The Covey Rise — Half Day

Up to four hunters, one price
The half day is our most-requested booking and the truest introduction to what this place is. About two and a half to three hours in the field, a sit-down lunch at the Farm House Lodge, and your birds cleaned and iced before you leave.
What the day looks like
Morning hunts start around 8:30–9:00 AM and run until roughly 11:30, followed by lunch. Afternoon hunts begin with lunch at the lodge, then hit the field around 1:00 PM. Either way you have the preserve to yourself — one party hunts at a time.
Walk it or ride the dog wagon — your call, and you can change your mind at lunch. Your handler can work the dogs from horseback or on foot right alongside you, whichever you would rather; most parties want the guide on the ground with them. The cockers ride the wagon until a pointer goes on point, then get cut loose to flush while the pointer stands.
What is included
- One guided hunting session over field trial bred pointing dogs
- 12 to 18 covey rises on a typical day — weather and how hard you push move that number
- Unlimited bag. Nobody is counting against a limit
- A home-cooked Southern lunch at the Farm House Lodge
- Birds cleaned, packaged and iced at no extra charge
- Exclusive use of over 220 acres for your party
Bringing more than four?
A fifth or sixth gun is $500 per half-day session — less per gun than the party rate works out to. Larger groups can be arranged; see corporate and group hunts.
Booking terms
- A 50% deposit reserves your dates; the balance is due before the hunt or at check-in.
- Kentucky sales tax of 6% applies. Gratuity is not included — 15–20% is customary if your guide made the day.
- No hunting license required. Backcountry is a licensed Kentucky shooting preserve.
- Season runs August 15 through April 15.
