There’s a quiet rhythm to the perfect hunt
The sweep of native grass around your feet, the sudden rise of a covey, the crack of your shotgun, and the calm that settles in between. Backcountry Shooting Preserve was built around that feeling.
Rooted in Glasgow, Kentucky, Backcountry Shooting Preserve is wholeheartedly managed for quail — with native grasses, wildflowers, and thoughtfully placed food plots that hold coveys the right way. We hunt behind horseback field trial champions and English cockers, with every hunt guided and paced perfectly to enjoy the experience.
Our goal is to offer the highest-level upland experience — built for people who appreciate the details, the dog work, and the kind of place that still does things right.
What makes it work
- Hundreds of acres of native habitat managed wholeheartedly for quail — native grasses, wildflowers, and food plots placed to hold birds
- One party on the ground at a time. Your guide, your dogs, your coveys — never mixed with another party
- Field trial champion pointing dogs handled from horseback, with hard-flushing English cockers to retrieve
- Unlimited bag. Hunters are encouraged to go big — breaking the course record is welcomed
- Birds cleaned, packaged and iced for the road at no charge
- Wild bobwhite coveys live on the property and are never hunted. Habitat good enough for wild birds is the whole point
The owner
Hey, I’m Kenton Bryant
I own and manage Backcountry Shooting Preserve.
This place started as ground to train our field trial dogs — the nationally recognized ones you’ll hunt behind here. Somewhere along the way it became a place we get to share with people every day, and that turned out to be the better version of the plan.
Bird dogs, good food, wildlife conservation, and the kind of friendships that start with one morning in the field together — I’m blessed that all of it is the job, and I don’t take a day of it for granted.

We’re 30 minutes east of Bowling Green, an hour and a half from Nashville, and two hours south of Louisville — all with convenient access to and from I-65.
